Julian Boone Bradshaw
January 14, 2017—January 9, 2023
Boone Bradshaw passed away January ninth, five days before his sixth birthday, in the arms of his dad, following a tragic accident outside his home near Abernathy, Texas. Boone brought light and joy to everyone around, most of all to his loving parents, Sara and John Bradshaw.
Adoption brought Boone to his parents when he was only two days old. His selfless birth mother crossed the Rio Grande with the hopes of a better life for the baby she was unable to care for herself. Boone was soon born in Midland and became the life and happiness of his parents.
Like many boys, Boone was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed learning about animals and studying their tracks. Two days before his death he became upset when his parents declined to allow him to stab a snared coyote with his knife. He had worn out one pony and was working on his second. He was a natural horseman, always comfortable and brave.
He loved dinosaurs and could identify them as well as any paleontologist. He was a good student and over the Christmas vacation had learned to read short sentences. He would have returned to school the following day and was excited to see his friends. He was entranced with the story and legend of D.B. Cooper and could recount the entire ordeal, which happened some forty-five years before his birth.
Best of all was Boone’s shining personality. He was a happy boy, outgoing, talkative and polite. He had a curious, caring and kind nature, along with an infectious laugh. He had a talent for making up stories and for art, as well as for cooking. He was ready to make his mark on the world, but no one knew where it would be.
Beside the sink in their home sets a small, shiny white rock that Boone picked up somewhere. His mom kept it after Boone, ever the gentleman, told her “Momma, you’re prettier than this rock.”
Boone was preceded in death by a big brother, Fox Joaquin Bradshaw. He is survived by parents John and Sara Bradshaw; grandparents Randy and Karen Bradshaw and Pat and Debbie Farmer; Otey Shadden; Kitty Hinkle; Wayne Farmer; Debbie Westbrooks; Don and Debbie Farmer; Kim, David, Caleb, Colt and Pax Jeffreys; Kate, Bryan, Jenna and Kara Phillips; Coty Atwood and Jason Lem.
Family suggests a donation to the Gladney Adoption Agency, 6300 John Ryan Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76132 or your favorite charity in Boone's name would be appreciated.
Services for Boone Bradshaw will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 14, 2023, in the Abernathy United Church with Boone’s uncle, Dave Jeffreys, officiating. Burial will follow at the Bradshaw home under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
