Obituary of Alicia Martinez Marez

Graveside services for Alicia Martinez Marez, 69, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 8, 2021, in the Abernathy Cemetery. The family will gather to receive friends at Abell Funeral Home, Friday, October 7, 2021, from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mrs. Marez died Sunday, September 26, 2021, in Lubbock, TX. She was born June 8, 1952 in Lampassas, TX to Alejandro Martinez and Anita (Rios) Martinez. She married Alfredo Marez, Jr. August 18, 1983 in Georgetown, TX. Alicia was raised in the Georgetown, TX area. She and her family came to the Abernathy area for seasonal work, where they stayed. She was the Housing Supervisor for Texas Tech University for over forty years. Alicia enjoyed spending her time crocheting, doing needle point, and gardening. She also loved listening to music and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by husband Alfredo Marez, Jr. September 16, 2021, parents, Alejandro and Anita Martinez, siblings, Albert Martinez, Joe Martinez, Amada Mirales and Tina Montemayor. She is survived by 2 children, Lisa Salinas and Alfredo Marez III, all of Abernathy, 3 grandchildren, Toribio Salinas, Jr., Marina Godinez and Jessa Leigh Lemons, 6 great grandchildren, Jacob Lee Salinas, Xavier Salinas, Izsac Salinas, Naiomi Salinas, Niaylli Salinas, and Alicia Salinas, 5 siblings, Anita Sewell, Patricia Perez, Guadalupe Garcia, Chris Martinez, Sr., and George Martinez.
