Obituary of Jerrie Hooper

Graveside services for Jerrie Hooper, 86, of Hale Center, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Friday, July 21, 2017, in the Hale Center Cemetery with Silas Short and Bill Smith officiating. The family will gather to receive friends at Abell Funeral Home, Abernathy, from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm, Thursday, July 20th. Following graveside services, Friday, the family invites friends to gather at the Hooper home, 313 W. 10th, Hale Center. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.

Mrs. Hooper died Friday, July 14, 2017, in Lubbock, TX.

She was born September 14, 1930 to Dewey Chilton and Johnnie Mabel (McGee) McDaniel in Seagraves, TX. She moved to Hale Center from Seagraves in 1947 and married D. J. Hooper in 1949 in Hale Center, he preceded her in death in 2001. She was employed as an LVN at Hi-Plains Hospital and later owned and operated Jerrie's Place, a gift and antique shop. She loved Antique and estate sale shopping and was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Hooper in 2005.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Donna Pettit of Lubbock, TX and Deeann Boyd of Austin, TX, 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to a cancer fund of choice or to the Hale Center Meals on Wheels.
