Obituary of Lorena Hollingworth

On November 19, 2007, Lorena (Jackie) Reynolds Brown Hollingworth, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Great-great-grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend went home to be with her Lord. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior as a young child and depended on Him throughout her life.
A Celebration of her life was held at the First Baptist Church, Hale Center at 10:00 am Saturday, November 24, 2007 with Dr. Gene Meacham officiating. Burial followed in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, TX.
She was born on August 4, 1917 in Hamlin, TX to Ben Virgil and Ruth Smith Reynolds. She lived most of her adult life in Pampa, TX where she reared her children. She moved to Hale Center in August of 1994 and moved to Houston in 2005.
She married Harold (Jack) Hollingworth on February 2, 1950 in Borger, TX. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1994.
Jackie was a talented woman who spent many joyful hours sewing, quilting, doing ceramics and painting. Her family's and friend's homes are decorated with beautiful handcrafted gifts from her. She worked for several years making floral arrangements for several Texas Panhandle businesses.
She was most proud of the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jackie is survived by her daughters; Betty and Ray Koons, of Houston, TX, Pat Hollingworth of Lubbock, TX, her sons, Bob and Tany Brown of Hale Center, TX, Bill and Lynn Brown of Golden, CO, her grandchildren; Craig and Leigh Shelton of Apopka, FL, Holly and Rick Turner of Hale Center, TX, Chris and Sonja Brown of Henderson, CO, Greg and Ann Brown, of Broomfield, CO, Jason Hollingworth of Lubbock, TX, Tisha and Shawn Eder of Columbus, IN and Tara Gootee of Lanesville, IN, her great-grandchildren, Lauren Shelton or Orlando, FL, Erin Turner of Hale Center, TX, Keller Brown of Henderson, CO, Cierra, Briana and Justus Eder of Columbus, IN and Austin and Kyle Gootee of Lanesville, IN, and one great-great-granddaughter, Macie Turner-Shuping of Hale Center, TX.
Jackie is also survived by a sister, Juanita and Robert Carpenter of Sunland, CA, a sister-in-law Colline Reynolds of Hutchinson, KS and several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and one brother.
