Obituary of Mary Helen Wade

Services for Mary Helen Wade, 89, of Abernathy, TX, will be held Friday, December 30, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike O'Donnell officiating, burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will gather to receive friends Thursday, December 29, 2016, from 5:30 to 6:30pm at Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Wade died Wednesday, December 28, 2016, in Lubbock. She was born December 24, 1927 to Jack and Vera (Haney) Strickland, the youngest of 12 children. After graduating from Lamesa High School, she graduated from Draughn's Business College. She married Omer Edward Wade August 19, 1947, in Littlefield, TX. From time to time, she worked outside the home including jobs at Southwest Textile Mills, Struve's Department Store, County Line Gin, and the local newspaper. Mrs. Wade loved to sew, making dresses for her daughter and granddaughter's. She was an unselfish servant, always there to help. Mrs. Wade was preceded in death by her husband, Omer Wade, August 9, 1994. She is survived by a son, Larry Wade of Abernathy, daughter, Janet Morgan and husband, Ronald, of Muleshoe, TX, 3 grandchildren, Roger Wade and wife, Rachel, of Lelia Lake, TX, Christy Anderson and husband, Nathan, of Lubbock, and April O'Brien and husband, David, of Plainview, TX, and 6 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial donations be sent to the Abernathy First Baptist Church, 411 7th Street, Abernathy, TX 79311.
