Services for Wilma Marie Stillwell, 78, of Plainview, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, August 4, 2016 in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike O'Donnell, pastor, officiating. The family will gather to receive friends at Abell Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 3rd. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
Mrs. Stillwell died Tuesday afternoon, August 2, 2016, in Lubbock, TX.
Wilma was born June 29, 1938 in Morton, TX to Thomas Thurman (T.T.) and Ethel (Crow) Smith. She married Harold Wayne Stillwell on September 27, 1957, in Morton. Following their marriage, they lived for a few months in Lubbock prior to moving to Abernathy in 1958. She was later employed by the Abernathy ISD as secretary/bookkeeper with the HONDA program until retiring in 2003, after 29 years. Wilma had been a cancer survivor since 1969. She was a member of the Texas Secretary Association and loved to invest and trade stocks. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and was in the Esther Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Abernathy Lions Club and the Senior Citizens. They moved to Plainview, TX in November of 2015.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Stillwell of Plainview, TX, 3 children, Amanda Curry and husband Larry of Kress, TX, Cindy Belt and husband Kevin of Plainview, TX, and Randal Stillwell and wife Terri of Post, TX, 2 sisters, Wanda Thomas and husband Virgil of Searcy, Ark, and Ruthie Roberts and husband Randall of Plainview. Wilma was also survived by her 6 grandchildren, Jonathan Curry and wife Carolyn, Levi Curry and wife Shana, Candace Parmenter and husband Michael, Maddie Hallman and husband Grant, John Calvin Belt and wife Cassandra and Katee Garza and husband Chris, and 8 great grandchildren, Carson, Justus, Layken, Gideon, Carter, Joseph, Kelbi and expected in November of 2016 is Zeke.
