Obituary of Kimberly Kemp Shuey

Services for Kimberly Kemp Shuey, 43, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, July 8th, 2016, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike O'Donnell and Rev. Dennis Teeters officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. The family will gather at Abell Funeral Home to receive friends, Thursday, July 7th, 2016, from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm. Kimberly died at her home in Abernathy, Tuesday, July 5th, 2016. She was born December 11, 1972, in Lubbock, TX to Robert and Debbie (McPhearson) Kemp. She graduated Abernathy High School in 1991. Her Senior year in high school she was a member of the Abernathy Basketball Team that won the State Championship. She was the top 3 point shooter in the State with 98 3 pointers during the season. She also was a State Champion Cross Country runner. Following high school she attended Lubbock Christian University where she earned a Bachelor of Science, and she was also a member of the LCU Basketball team. She married Chris Shuey, October 26th, 2010, in Lubbock. Kimberly taught IPC in Biology at Littlefield, TX, Trinity Christian in Lubbock, Estacado High School in Lubbock and then for a short time she also taught at Abernathy. She loved going to the beach and fishing, she didn't know a stranger and had a big heart. She loved her children and family and taking pictures of them. She is survived by her husband, Chris Shuey of Abernathy, 3 children, Korryn McMinn, Jenci McMinn and Jacob McMinn and a step daughter, Chrislynn Shuey, parents, Robert and Debbie Kemp of Abernathy, Aunts, Uncles, and many friends.
