Dear family I will always remember pasting S & H Green Stamps with Aunt Jean. She would let me share the books that I filled with my brother, Lee. He got an Army canteen and I do not remember what I got but I remember his item when we traded our stamp books in. She would let me feed the little black and white tiny terrier that she had if I was visiting. He ate half a Gaines Burger Patty twice a day. That dog hated my dad. The dog would hide under the sofa and bite dad's ankles when we came over. In the summer she always had twin popsicles that we would break in two and I shared with my cousin Laura. We drank Tab, it tasted terrible, and Fresca in the bumpy bottle, I liked it. She was always there for anyone who needed her. Just like Grandma Jack, her mom. If I stayed over on a Saturday night she and Uncle Eugene would take me to church with them and we always stopped and picked up a very nice African American lady to go to church with us I forget the lady's name but her house still stands in Abernathy. If I stayed the night we always had Tang or Awake for juice in the morning. The Awake cans she kept for Laura to use as rollers for her long hair. Sometimes if I went over to her house after school I got to ride the bus with Laura or Jean would pick us up at school. On the bus it was always Laura and Cindy Dunn. Aunt Jean was a good cook and a super aunt. She would always let me play with Laura's Barbie dolls when Laura was not home. Laura had the original Twister board that you stood on. Aunt Jean would laugh at us trying to trwist and stay on it. Jean was always singing or humming as she did things like cooking or cleaning. It seemed like she was always cooking, ironing or sewing. I miss those days. They were really fun times. Love y'all. Tere'
