Obituary of Delton Stone

Services for Delton Lee Stone, 81, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 29, 2016, in the First United Methodist Church. Masonic Graveside services will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park, Lubbock, TX, under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will gather to receive friends at Abell Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm, Sunday, February 28th. Mr. Stone died Thursday, February 25, 2016 at his home in Abernathy, TX. He was born September 3, 1934, in Abernathy to A. L. and Dorothy (White) Stone, Sr. He farmed for 14 years before managing Coop gins in the area for over 20 years, retiring from Midland, TX in 1996. They returned to Abernathy where they owned and operated Stoney Acres RV Park for 19 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by a brother, A. L. Stone, Jr. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, LaNell, a son, Gary Stone and wife Stacy and a daughter, Sherri Henley all of Abernathy, 5 grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy, Jessica and Jarrett Stone and Thomas Henley, 7 great grandchildren, Kealee, Matthew, Markus, Mason, Bransyn, Lorelei and Levi, 2 sisters, Judy Stracener of Levelland, TX and Billie Grimsley of Abernathy, Sister-in-law, Pauline Stone of Abernathy.
