Obituary of J. Tiner

L. J. "Jack" Tiner of Hale Center, TX passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2005.
Mr. Tiner was born to the late John and Maude Tiner in Cleburne, TX, January 6, 1917. The family moved to Lubbock in 1925, where Jack graduated from Lubbock High School. He married Thelma Houston in 1936. They moved to Fort Worth, TX during the war years and he worked for Vought Aeronaurtic Plant in Grand Prairie, TX. When the war was over they moved back to Lubbock and he worked for Rigney Auto Supply. The family moved to Hale Center, TX in the fall of 1946. A few years later Jack bough Hale Center Auto Supply and operated the business until he retired in 1977. Jack and Thelma traveled and spent time at their place on Lake Texoma for several years, while keeping their home in Hale Center. Jack enjoyed fishing. He was a longtime member of the Hale Center Church of Christ. He moved to Atria Assisted Living in Lubbock in 2004. He loved his family and was dedicated to them.
Mr. Tiner was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Houston Tiner, a daughter, Dianne Owens, 2 sisters, Virginia Snelling and Mildred Tiner, a son-in-law, Frank Ramierz, and a granddaughter, Danielle Tiner.
He is survived by two sons, Sam Tiner and his wife Bernadene of Breckenridge, TX, Mike Tiner and his wife Judy of Lubbock, TX, a daughter Rebecca Ramirez of Floresville, TX, seven grandchildren, Jamie Tiner of Johnsburg, IL, Julie Erb of Breckenridge, Jason Tiner of Hale Center, Jana Holladay of Littleton, CO, Joel and Micah Ramirez of Floresville and Mariah Herrera of Dumas, TX and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 9:00 am Thursday, December 22, 2005, in the Hale Center Church of Christ. Burial followed in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, TX.
