Obituary of Danny Ryan

Services for Dan L. Ryan, 66, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 3:00 pm, Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, in the Abernathy Church of Christ with David Bennett and Steve Gauntt officiating. A private burial was held in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Ryan died at his residence in Abernathy Saturday, September 23, 2006. He was born August 27, 1940 in Vernon, TX. He graduated from Seymour High School and from Texas A&M University. He moved to Abernathy from Lorenzo, TX in 1972. He founded, owned and operated Frontier Hybrids LTD and Turffalo LTD and developed Turffalo brand turf grass in cooperation with Texas Tech University. He was a member of the Lion's Club, and active in the Texas Seed Association, and Western Seedsman Association. He was also a member of Abernathy Church of Christ. He is survived by: his wife, Donna Ryan of Abernathy, TX, a son, Trent Ryan and his wife Jennifer, of Abernathy, TX, two daughters, Marci Jenkins and her husband Pat of New Braunfels, TX and Prim Naegele and her husband Doug of Austin, TX, a brother, Kent Ryan of New Zealand; and six grandchildren, Colt, Cade and Kira Ryan, Ryan and Amelia Jenkins, and Jewel Naegele.
