Obituary of Tommie Rogers

Services for Thomas Earl "Tommie" Rogers, 86, longtime resident of Hale Center, were held 11:00 am Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Hale Center Church of Christ with Walter W. "Speck" Cox officiating and Logan Rogers and Mason Rogers assisting. Burial followed in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Hale Center. Tommie was born August 17, 1924 in Floyd County, Texas. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Lubbock County, Texas.He married Francis Louise Biffle on April 6, 1945 in Lubbock, Texas. They moved to Hale Center in 1953 and began their farming operation. Louise preceded him in death on September 10, 2005. Tommie remained in Hale Center until his death September 3, 2010. He was a faithful member of the Hale Center Church of Christ and served for many years as a deacon. He is survived by his son, Steve Rogers and wife Judy of Amarillo; 2 grandsons, Logan Rogers and wife Lesli and their son Knox, of Nashville, TN and Mason Rogers and wife Kellie and their 3 children, Charlotte, Oscar and June of Amarillo; a brother, Walt Rogers and wife, Pat of Murphreesboro, TN; a sister, Nelda Sneed and husband Ernest of Highland Haven, TX; a sister-in-law Rosene Garrison and husband Rusty of Lubbock and several nieces and nephews.
