Obituary of Verlon Barron

Services for Verlon W. Barron, 75, of Anton, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Friday, June 5, 2009, in the Anton First Baptist Church with Rev. Rush Coffman and Rev. Les Ferguson officiating. Burial followed services in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Barron was born May 7, 1934 in Seagraves, TX to James Ella and Myrtle (Abney) Barron. He was raised in Abernathy, TX where he graduated Abernathy High School and was a member of the "A Team" Football Team. He married Dovie Jones on February 14, 1954 in Anton, TX and she preceded him in death in 1992. He then married Bobbie Green in Anton and she also preceded him in death. On May 30, 2003, "Doll" Flo Tessia Kesey and Verlon were married in Anton, TX. He was a longtime resident of the County Line, TX area before moving to Anton in May of 2003. He had been active as a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of the Anton First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lawrence Barron. He is survived by 3 children, Wayne Barron and wife Risa of Lubbock, TX, Lorna Brazil of Anton, TX and Don Barron and wife Kristy of County Line, TX, 2 step children, Beatrice and Rodney Carr and Herman and Glenda Synatschk all of Anton, TX, 9 grandchildren and 3 sisters, Dorotha Conn of Abernathy, TX, Verneta Elder of Las Cruces, NM and Nell Dean Apperson of Lewisville, TX.
