At the age of nine, the family moved to a farm near Wolfforth where Hazel graduated from Wolfforth High School. She attended Texas Tech the following year. Hazel married Marvin Edward Anderson of Abernathy on August 26, 1940. She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Abernathy since September of 1942 where she taught Sunday School for many years to both children and adults. Hazel was employed as a salesperson for many years at Sears, Dunlaps and Cobbs where she thoroughly enjoyed helping her customers. Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Abernathy with Hazel's nephew Rev. Danny Trussell officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy.
