Obituary of H. Grady

Funeral services for H. W. Grady, 62, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 6, 2006, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Martin officiating. The Hale County Sheriff's Office provided their Color Guard at the service.
Military graveside rites followed in the Abernathy Cemetery with services under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX.
Mr. Grady died at his home, Sunday, December 3, 2006.
He was born January 30, 1944 in Corpus Christi, TX to Henry and Ruth Grady. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 until 1969, serving in Vietnam from 1965 until 1968. He earned numerous medals during his service, including 3 Good Conduct Medals, he was a Purple Heart Recepient and earned Rifle and Pistol Expert Badges.
He married Linda Bankston on September 16, 1984 in Rotan, TX where they lived until moving to Abernathy in 1987. He served as Chief of Police in Rotan for 10 years, and after moving to Abernathy he also served as Chief of Police until becoming a Hale County Deputy Sheriff in 1997 until his death. He was a member of the Law Enforcement Association and served as Alderman on the Abernathy City Council from 1998 until 2000. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Grady of Abernathy, 3 sons, Michael Grady of Richland Hills, TX, Harlan Grady of Hurst, TX, and Jeremy Grady of Abernathy, TX, a daughter, Sarah Grady of Abernathy, TX, 3 granddaughters, Alicia Grady of Richland Hills, TX, Summer Grady of Hurst, TX, and Kaydence (Kady) Grady of Abernathy, TX and 2 grandsons, Ryan Grady of Richland Hills, TX and Hunter Grady of Hurst, TX. He is also survived by siblings, 1 step-brother, Terry Stanford of Hamilton, TX, 2 half brothers, Dusty Grady of Lake Worth, TX, and Russell Grady of Arlington, TX, 2 half-sisters, Alma Joyce Stone and Jamie Sue Riley both of Ft. Worth, TX, and his step-mother, Ada Grady of Euless, TX.
