Funeral services for Christian Isaiah Fernandez, “ZAYA”, 26 of Abernathy TX, will be held at 10:00 am Monday, August 19th at Abernathy United Church in Abernathy, Texas with Rev. Selso Torrez officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery in the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy. Viewing will be held Sunday August 18th at The Exchange Church in Abernathy, TX from 9:00am - 6:00pm.
Zaya passed away on Sunday, August 11th 2024 in New Deal, TX.
He was born December 31st 1997 in Lubbock, TX. He was raised in Abernathy by his parents Marylou and Jesus Sanchez, where he then graduated Abernathy High school in 2016. Zaya loved sports and was involved with baseball and football beginning with little league and continuing throughout his high school career. He was a beloved fan of the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboy and always swore this year was “our year” for the Super Bowl! Zaya was always about his Family and Friends, and nobody can forget about his big fat pig Maverick Jamal Jenkinburg. If anybody really knew Zaya they knew that Mavy was his road dawg. He was always on the go and always wanted to have a good time.
He was proceeded in death by his grandfather Toby Natal and cousin Daniel Natal.
Zaya is survived by his parents Marylou and Jesus Sanchez of Abernathy and two sisters. Alyssa and Cass Smith and their children, Kelsie, JL, and Bryson of Lubbock, TX and Elizabeth Fernandez and David minor and their children, Avery, Caleb and Aiden of Lubbock. Grandparents Mary Natal “Grandma” and Lupe “Ama” and Raul “Apa” Sanchez all of Abernathy, and last but not least His best friends and road dawgs for life Maverick and Zeke of Lubbock.
