I was so sorry to hear of Gay’s passing. Our memories go back 40 years when we were pregnant at the same time and took birthing classes together with her and Kelly.
Such fond memories of a sweet and caring lady.
Many condolences to Kelly and her family.

A lovely, caring woman. Gaye put others’ needs before her own. Never knowing how to ask for help for herself appears to be her ending.
You added so much to this world, Gaye. May you be at ease and blessed in eternity. You deserve beauty and loving kindness in the arms of our Lord.

Gay was always so kind when we were in high school. Gay was always the life of the party with her laughs & great sense of humor. She had such a welcoming smile to all she encountered. I love you Gay. This is not goodbye but see you later.
My condolences to the entire family.

Gay was such a sweet soul. I knew her all thru high school yet we really got to be good friends the end of our senior year and thru that summer. We had many good, deep discussions. Gay was passionate about so many things and had a deep understanding about things well beyond our years. She was compassionate and caring and had a great sense of humor. I am a better person for being her friend and am thankful for our time together. My condolences to her family.

Gay moved to Colorado City when we were in the 7th grade. I first met her at the corner of 12th and Hickory streets as we were walking to school. She came up and introduced herself to me, as I'm sure that is no surprise to anyone who knew her as she was so outgoing, and we have been close friends ever since. We have shared many good times over the years. One summer, we wanted to buy 10 speed bicycles so we washed cars and trucks for $10.00 a vehicle and we bought those bicycles. We had some fun trips to Six Flags, Possum Kingdom Lake and Ruidoso. Gay was loved by everyone who knew her. She was family and was loved by my parents, brother, grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins. I can't imagine my physical life without her in it but she will live in my heart forever. I rejoice knowing she is in the presence of our Heavenly Father now living in complete peace. I send my love and prayers to Kelly, Robyn and Taylor and all the family as they learn to live this new "normal" life. I love you Gaybird!

I first met Gay when 2 or 3 of us girls were hanging out at the CCity Junior High steps. I think I had just finished a twirling practice. She came strolling up-and very confidently introduced herself and said she had just moved here from Freer Texas. I immediately liked her. She had really pretty shoulder length or maybe a little longer Sandy brown hair - (she could grow good hair) cute as she could be. Easy going and Likeable. We became friends immediately . When she married Kelly and I had the opportunity to meet him, I loved him as well. Kelly and I love gardening and he is a master at it. So we have that in common. Stayed in touch over all these years. We managed to get together every so often- she and Kelly would sometimes get in touch when they would be here in Austin. If I was in Lubbock seeing after my dad when he’d be in the hospital, they would insist I spend the night. A couple of time Lana and I both spent the night with them! She and Kelly are so accommodating and caring and I am forever grateful for their Friendship and hospitality over the years. Always had something good cooked and ready to eat! She was a fantastic cook. Kelly I send my love and prayers to you and the kids. Gay - I’ll see you on the other side my friend. RIP.

So many memories and so little space in which to share even a tiny fraction of them. From letting me hang out at the Colorado Record when she was supposed to be working, from babysitting me to teaching me how to paint fingernails and the phone calls to tell me when Peanuts was on tv to the random texts, as recently as last weekend, to tell me she loved me, Gay was always one of my staunchest supporters and fiercest advocates. Thank you, Gay, for a lifetime of unwavering love and memories.
My heartfelt condolences to the Attebury and Stricklin families. I pray for peace, strength and comfort in the time ahead.
