Thomas Henry Conway, Sr, 83, of Abernathy, TX passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in Lubbock, TX. He was born December 17, 1939 in Winters, TX to the late Jim and Lenora (Bredemeyer) Conway. Tom served in the U.S. Army from 1957 until 1960, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, as a paratrooper. He was also stationed in Germany. Tom was a member and Deacon at Northside Baptist Church in Abernathy. In earlier years he served as a volunteer fireman for Abernathy. He had been a transport driver for Frito-Lay from 1968 until 2000, he retired with 2 million miles for Frito Lay. He drove part time for Llano until 2016.
Tom married Bobbie Morman, April 22, 1960 in Lubbock. He had a soft heart for the homeless and abused animals. He and Bobbie rescued many pets in need. He loved his God, Country and family, the Red Raiders and those Dallas Cowboys, and we can't forget John Wayne!
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, James and Douglas and a sister, Helen.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bobbie of Abernathy, a daughter, Tammie Hunter and husband Rick of Spur, TX, 2 sons, Tom Conway, Jr, and wife Patricia of Grapevine, TX and Tim Conway of Mansfield, TX, 4 grandchildren Gaston, Logan, Sidney and Devyn, and special friends, Doug and Nena Hadley of Moody, TX.
A private family service will be held at a later date with military honors.
