Obituary of Carroll Bradley

Services for Carroll Paul Bradley, 85, of Abernathy, TX will be held at 10:00am Thursday, July 6, 2023, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Sullivan and Rev. Damon Pearce officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy. The family will gather to receive friends from 6:00pm until 7:00pm on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Abell Funeral Home. Mr. Bradley died on Sunday, July 2, 2023 in Lubbock, TX. He was born on July 11, 1937 to James "Chub" Burrell and Willie Ruth (Hatler) Bradley in Abilene, TX. Carroll grew up in Wingate, TX and moved to Abernathy during the 2nd grade. He married Karen Struve, November 28, 1958 in Abernathy. He worked for Abernathy ISD as the Maintenance Director and served as a volunteer firefighter for 25 years. Carroll was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Abernathy First Baptist Church. Carroll is preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Wilson, August 25, 2001, and siblings Juanita Gillispie, Christine Scott, Colleen Cecil, and Calvin Bradley. He is survived by his wife, Karen Bradley, of Abernathy, 3 children Roxanne Schmidt and husband, Leon, of Cedar Park, TX, Tracy Wilson and husband, Chris, and Ross Bradley and wife, Candy, all of Abernathy, 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one on the way and a sister, Cherylene Vandygriff of Abernathy. The family suggests memorials be made to the Abernathy First Baptist Church, 411 7th Street, Abernathy, TX, 79311 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
