Obituary of Peggy Atkinson Shropshire

Services for Peggy Atkinson Shropshire, 88, formerly of New Deal, TX, will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, March 6, 2023, in the First Baptist Church, New Deal, TX with Rev. Tim Winn and Michael Looney officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will gather to receive friends from 4:30pm until 6:00pm at Abell Funeral Home, Sunday, March 5, 2023. Mrs. Shropshire died Wednesday, March 1, 2023, in Wichita Falls, TX. She was born March 19, 1934 in Goree, TX to Lewis and Blanche (Jones) Atkinson. She graduated from Benjamin High School, and later attended Draughons Business School. Peggy married John W. Shropshire June 25, 1955 in New Deal, TX. She worked for the New Deal Independent School District as the Librarian and Classroom Aid. Peggy is preceded in death by her husband John W. Shropshire in 2013 She is survived by her daughter, Vanessa Lee of Wichita Falls, son, Kerry Shropshire and wife Diana of Granbury, TX, 3 grandchildren, Trajina Molina and Husband Gabe of Burkburnett, TX, Cody Shropshire of Kerrville, TX and Katelin Shropshire of Plano, TX, 3 great grandchildren, Emily, Cade, and Hallie Russell all of Burkburnett.
