Obituary of Eula Nell Stapleton

Services for Eula Nell Stapleton, 84, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Friday, February 17, 2023, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Damon Pearce officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mrs. Stapleton died Tuesday, February 14, 2023, in Lubbock, TX. She was born May 27, 1938 in Lubbock, TX to George and Mary (Bell) Mangum. She was 1 of 22 children. She met James Stapleton at church while she was serving in the US Army. James and Eula were married in 1954 in Seattle, WA, together they raised 3 children. They loved bowling together and she enjoyed beadwork and crafts. While living in Houston, TX, she ran a daycare center. They moved to Abernathy from Houston. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Charis Shively. She is survived by her husband, James Stapleton of Abernathy, 2 sons, Ambrose Stapleton and wife Markella of Arizona and Raymond Stapleton and wife Goergia of Woodward, OK, 9 grandchildren, Mercedes, August, Chynna, Baylin, George, Seraphin, Eustachis, Michael and Jimmy, 4 great grandchildren, Zoey, Reality, Spencer and Daniel, a brother-in-law, Melvin Stapleton of Layton, OK, and numerous nieces and nephews.
