Services for Evelyn (Totty) Daugherty, 81, of Nappanee, Indiana are pending at this time. Cremation services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
Evelyn passed unexpectedly while on a special Christmas trip with her dear friend Doug Graham in Branson, MO. She loved traveling and was thankful to see three wonderful shows before she became ill. She loved adventure and was always willing to try something new.
She was born in Abernathy, TX to Robert and Helen (Mahon) Totty. She graduated from Abernathy High School in 1958. Currently she was living in Nappanee, IN so she could be close to her children and grandchildren. She worked Civil Service jobs most of her life and retired from US Customs Service as a Contract Specialist in Indianapolis, IN. She had a few other jobs including working at a cotton gin, a beautician, retail sales, self-employed, and was even a farmer. She was an active member of Tri Kappa for many years. She loved crafting. She made lovely stained glass Christmas ornaments, as well as wall hangings. She also created many amazing watercolor prints, especially flowers and lighthouses. She and Grannie (Gladys) Gregory made several gorgeous quilts together. She even dabbled in making jewelry for a short time. She made several beautiful ceramic nativities from scratch. We will aways treasure those and all her hand-crafted items. She attended Nappanee Missionary Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jerome Daugherty, her parents Robert and Helen Totty, a sister Treva Huffington, and a brother Flavel Wayne Totty.
She is survived by her sister, Carol Littlefield-Jowett and Garth, daughters Carrie Gorsuch and Ralph, Rylee Gregory and Debbie, and stepson Jeffery Daugherty and Gloria. She had five grandchildren, Kelly, Matthew, Ryan, Aimee, and Alissa. She also had five great-grandchildren Drew, Cooper, Jillian, Brinley, and Hailey. She loved her babies. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place in Indiana, a date will be announced later. A small graveside service and burial will be in Abernathy, TX in the Spring of 2023.
