Rosary for Gregoria (Garcia) Garza, will be recited at 6:00 pm Thursday, September 22, 2022 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, September 23, 2022, in the same church with Rev. Rene Perez officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
Gregoria Aurora (Garcia) Garza of Wolfforth, TX went home to be with the Lord Monday, September 19, 2022 at the age of 79.
Gregoria was born on May, 25, 1943 in Doole, Texas to Cecilio and Ynosente Garcia. She grew up in Abernathy, Texas where she met the love of her life, Maximo Garza Jr. Max and Gregoria were married on April 28, 1962 and they shared 60 beautiful years together. Gregoria was a loving wife, mother of five, a grandmother/great grandmother of fourteen, and a homemaker. Gregoria’s main priority in life was her family, which she loved unconditionally. She supported her husband throughout his career and her children in school, sports, and other extracurricular activities. Gregoria often volunteered for her children’s elementary school classroom celebrations, participated in Girl Scout activities with her daughters, and cheered for her husband, children and grandchildren during sporting events. Gregoria was very strong in her Catholic faith from childhood on. She was a parishioner of St Isidore Catholic Church in Abernathy, Texas where she served as a Guadalupana and taught kindergarten religious education classes. After moving to Lubbock, TX in 1986, Gregoria became a parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Gregoria is preceded in death by her parents, Cecilio and Ynosente Garcia; and her brother, Alejandro (Alex) Garcia.
She is survived by her Husband, Max; five children, Christine Burns (Robin)
of Wolfforth, Texas, Joe Max Garza Jr. (Esmeralda) of Lubbock, TX, Rita Hiracheta (Michael) of Lubbock, TX, Ray Garza (Victoria) of San Antonio, Texas, and Sara Garza of Wolfforth, TX; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren her siblings, Jesus Garcia of Phoenix, AZ, Ruben Garcia of Abernathy, TX, Dolores Barron of Grand Prairie, TX, Cecil Garcia of Abernathy, TX, Josephina DeAnda of Abernathy, TX and Yolanda Garcia of Denton, TX.
