Obituary of Jane Rowan

Services for Jane Rowan, 78, of Abernathy, TX will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 2:00pm in the Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Perez officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy. Viewing will be on Thursday, August 18, 2022 beginning at 3:00pm with the family gathering to receive friends from 6:00pm - 7:00pm at Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Rowan died Monday, August 15, 2022 in Lubbock, TX. She was born on November 22, 1943 in Coleman, TX to George and Syrina (Kinley) Kitchens. Mrs. Rowan was raised in the Abernathy area and went to school in both New Deal and Abernathy. She married Kenneth Rowan on May 8, 1961 in Lubbock, TX and together they have resided in the Abernathy area for more than 50 years. Mrs. Rowan worked for many years at the local steakhouse and was co-owner of Rowan Pump Service. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Abernathy and Rock of Ages in Lubbock. Mrs. Rowan was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Vern Kitchens and Raymond Kitchens and sisters Lois Kitchens and Evelyn Durham. She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Kenneth Rowan, of Abernathy, children Janie O'Brien and husband, Tim, of Lunenburg, Massachusetts, Patricia Wentzel and husband, Bob, of Lubbock, Bradford Rowan and wife, Valorie, of Spur, TX, Suevelyn Brewer and husband, Joe, of Wolfforth, TX, and Lee Rowan and wife, Nikki, of New Deal, TX, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren with two on the way, and siblings Glenn Kitchens of Albany, TX, Sue Wilkins of San Antonio, TX, Wayne Kitchens of Abernathy, Barbara Crabb of Eastland, TX, and Sandra Rogers of Coleman, TX. The family suggests memorial donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 6066 South Loop E Freeway Service Road, Houston, TX 77087.
