Obituary of Bobbie Joyce Dever

Graveside services for Bobbie Joyce Dever, 87, of Lubbock, will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, June 16, 2022, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Rev. Richard Harbison officiating. The family will gather at Abell Funeral Home to receive friends from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, June 15, 2022. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Dever died Saturday morning, June 11, 2022 at her home in Lubbock, TX. She was born August 26, 1934 in Hermleigh, TX. She was raised by her mother Loreta (Williams) Hallman and father Roy Hallman in the Snyder and Roscoe areas. Bobbie graduated from Roscoe High School in 1952 and married John Esther Dever, JR., January 3, 1953 in Roscoe, TX. They lived in Coahoma from 1961 until moving to San Angelo in 2003. In 2008, they moved to Lubbock. Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Dever, Jr., July 25, 2013, her daughter, Debra Washburn in 2009, granddaughter, Megan Green in 2019 and a brother Rodney Hallman. She is survived by 3 sons, John E. Dever III and wife Theresa of Austin, TX, James Dever and wife Jane of Lubbock, TX, and Jeff Dever and wife MJ of Mason, TX. She is survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Billy Hallman, Royce Walker and Jerry Hallman and a sister, Wanda Johnson.
