Memorial services for Steve Hart, 65, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings, TX. Cremation services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
Steve died Saturday, September 25, 2021, in Lubbock, TX.
He was born August 13, 1956 in Giddings, TX to John Clinton and Jo Ann (Mgebroff) Hart. Steve was raised in Giddings and Winchester, TX and earned his Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering from TSTC in Waco. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1977, serving in Operation Frequent Wind during Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1980. He was a certified welding inspector and was a pipe line inspector for Chevron, and he published training books for Chevron. He married Cynthia Jane Cozart, June 8, 2013 in Galveston, TX. Steve loved genealogy, hunting, fishing taxidermy and a cold beer. He was a bull rider and rodeo clown and an avid diver in Cozumel. Steve loved his family, children and grandchildren. He was very kind and generous and was happiest when he could make the people around him happy.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Clinton Hart and a brother, Randy Sell.
Steve is survived by his wife, Cynthia Hart, his mother, Jo Ann Nelson, 4 children, Megan Burch and husband Jonathan, John Hart and wife Janie, Kristin Krueger and husband Clark and Cody Hart, 2 step children, Chrissy Cozart and Jesse Lemonds, a sister, Kay Shaver and husband Gary, and a brother Dean Hart. Steve is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, Claire and Emma Jackson, Trinity Hart, Corrine Estrada, Kyle, Beau and Remi Krueger, 2 step grandchildren, Carmen Cozart and Jacob Lemonds and several nieces and nephews.
