Rosary for Dolores P. Vecchio, 84, of Abernathy, TX, will be recited at 6:00 pm Tuesday, March 30, 2021, in St. Isidore Catholic Church with Rev. Brian Wood, pastor, officiating. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 31, 2021, in the same church with the same officiant. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
Due to restrictions, only immediate family will be allowed inside the Church for both the Rosary and Mass. Funeral Mass will be live streamed and audio will be set up in the Church parking lot.
Mrs. Vecchio died at her home in Abernathy, Friday, March 26, 2021.
Dolores was born March 18, 1937 in Edinburg, TX to Leopoldo and Irene (Morales) Partida. She was raised in Edinburg, moving to Abernathy, TX in 1955. She married Elias P. "Shorty" Vecchio December 29, 1957 in Edinburg. She and her husband opened Vecchio's Burger Hut and in 1990 they relocated within Abernathy and renamed it to Vecchio's Restaurant. They retired in 2014. The Vecchio family was named Family of the Year by the Abernathy Chamber of Commerce. Dolores supported her husband during his time on city council. She loved to crochet, cook and watch Spanish soap operas. Dolores was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church where she served as a Guadalupana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elias P. "Shorty" Vecchio, January 19, 2020, and a son, Elias Vecchio, Jr.
She is survived by 2 sons, Raul Vecchio of Abernathy, and Catarino Vecchio and companion Krystal Burnett of Wolfforth, TX, daughter, Dolores Vecchio and companion Aurelio Pina, Jr. of Lubbock, 6 grandchildren, Monica Annette Pillow, Raul Eugene Vecchio, Mickey Vecchio, Mandy Lee Vecchio, Timothy Vecchio and Adam Pillow, 9 great grandchildren, and a brother Fidel Partida and wife Maria of Sunnyside, WA.
