Obituary of Carol Routh

Graveside services for Carol Routh, 85, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Monday, February 15, 2021, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Rev. Barry Tilley officiating. Memorial service will be at 1:00 pm, Monday, in the Living Word Church in Lubbock. The family will gather to receive friends from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm, Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Abell Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Routh died at her home in Abernathy, Thursday, February 11, 2021. She was born August 17, 1935 in Centerville, AR to Charlie D. and Netia Louise (Tilley) Gray. She married Earl J. Routh June 15, 1954 in Strathmore, CA. The Routh's lived and ranched in Franklin, TX before moving to Abernathy in 1976 where they bought The Junk and Antique Store. She was a member of Living Word Church in Lubbock. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Routh, March 9, 2019. Carol is survived by 2 sons, Earl G. Routh and wife Marlene of Mineola, TX and Terry Routh of Plainview, TX, 2 grandchildren, Marc Dreyer and wife Connie of Petersburg, TX and Amanda Roberson of Abernathy, 8 great grandchildren, a brother, Doyle Gray and wife Renate of Jersey Village, TX and a sister Helen Kendrick of Amarillo, TX. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Southwest Cancer Center at UMC, 602 Indiana Ave, Lubbock, TX 79415.
