Public viewing for Baleriano "Bobby" Cuevas, Sr., 86, of Abernathy, TX, will be held from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Abell Funeral Home. Private family graveside service will be held in the Abernathy Cemetery with Rev. Brian Wood officiating. Burial and services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy.
Mr. Cuevas died Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at his home in Abernathy.
He was born December 15, 1934 in Franklin, TX, to Pedro and Dominga (Solano) Cuevas. He married Lydia Ysassi, April 24, 1954 in Robstown, TX. In the 1970's he was self employed as a welder in Abernathy, helping area farmers, and later worked for A.C. Harris Welding for many years. Bobby worked for Becknell Wholesale in Lubbock for 28 years before retiring in June of 2020. Bobby always felt grateful and fortunate to work for such a great company as Becknell Wholesale. When his children were small, Bobby was involved in coaching their Little League teams in Abernathy. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Cuevas, April 17, 2012, a son, John Paul Cuevas in 1964 and 3 siblings, Daniel Cuevas, Amada (Amy) Garcia and Inez Wade.
Bobby is survived by his children, Baleriano "Bob" Cuevas, Jr and wife Linda of Frisco, TX, Gloria Vincent and husband Kevin of Hillsboro, OR, Rosa Sales and husband Dennis of Brownfield, TX, Theresa Cuevas, Gilbert Cuevas and wife Sylvia, and Maria "Gigi" Cuevas all of Lubbock, 11 grandchildren, Delicia Bentancourt, Christopher Marines, Josh Cuevas, Danielle Paiz, Cassie Cuevas, Mallorie Martinez, Sarah Cuevas, Andrew Cuevas, Amanda Cuevas, Steven Morales and Patrick Morales, 24 great grandchildren, 3 siblings, Manuela Cuevas and Mary Lopez both of Abernathy and Janie Rodriguez of Allen, TX.
