I remember W. T. so well. He & Maxine & my parents, Marvin & Hazel Toler, were friends for years, but especially at the Abernathy Senior Citizens Center that they all helped develop. I remember W. T. as being a strong leader at the First Baptist Church in Abernathy, but most of all, I remember his generosity in growing extra acres of black-eyed peas each summer just south of his home on 1st Street, to share with so many in the community. He was one of Abernathy's leaders and an example of a good, God-fearing man.
