Services for Roberto Salinas, 45, of Abernathy, TX will be held Monday, January 20, 2020 in the Monte de los Olivos Church, Abernathy, TX, at 10:00am. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery. The family will gather to receive friends 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2020 in Abell Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy.
Mr. Salinas died Friday, January 17, 2020 in Lubbock, TX.
He was born May 11, 1974 in Rio Grande City, TX to Prudencio & Inocencia (Garcia) Salinas. The family moved to Cotton Center, TX and he attended school there graduating in 1991. After graduation he returned to Rio Grande City and married his wife, Adela Nolasco in 1998. They moved to Abernathy in 2005. He was a contractor helping dig the City of Lubbock Landfill. Roberto often worked as a module truck driver during cotton ginning season, and most recently was a transportation driver for the Lubbock State School taking residents wherever they needed to go.
Roberto was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, King Malakai Salinas on February 25, 2019, a sister, Dianett Salinas, and a brother-in-law, Javier Alvarado.
He is survived by his wife, Adela Salinas, sons, Roberto Salinas, Jr. and girlfriend, Reanna Perez, Jesus "Jesse" Salinas, and step-grandson, Anthony Betancourt, all of Abernathy, siblings Chriselda Marquez and husband, Guadalupe, of Rio Grande City, Francisca Mata and husband, Juan, of Houston, TX, Rosa Bazan and husband, Noel, of Austin, TX, Gloria Alvarado of Cotton Center, Prudencio Salinas and wife, Barbara, of Hale Center, TX, Toribio Salinas and wife, Lisa, of Abernathy, Esperanza Rodriguez and husband, Gabino, of Amarillo, TX and Javier Salinas and wife, Felipe, of Austin.
