Obituary of Neva Abell
Services for Neva Abell, 96, of Ralls, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, October 15, 2018, in the Ralls Cemetery Chapel. The family will receive friends at the Ralls First United Methodist Church Parlor, Sunday, October 14, 2018, from 4:00pm until 5:30 pm. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
Mrs. Abell died Friday, October 12, 2018, in Lubbock, TX.
She was born November 29, 1921, in Quail, TX to Benton Homer and Dexie Florilla (Morrow) Cypert. She graduated Lorenzo High School in 1939 and attended Draughn's business college in Lubbock. She worked at the Army Air Base in Lubbock for a couple of years. She married Earl C. Abell, July 1, 1944 in Ralls. They lived in Ralls, Lorenzo and Kress before moving back to Ralls in 1950 when they bought into the partnership of Abell-Prewitt Implement with J.B. Prewitt. Neva attended the First United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Jaycees, and had served as Brownie Scout leader. She attended all her daughters events and was a room mother. She loved golf, playing in tournaments and courses around the area, and was a member of the Ladies Golf Assocation. She and Earl C. enjoyed travel, and spent many winters in Zapata, TX where they loved to fish.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl C., December 15, 2004, 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Harl and Addie Mae Cypert, Vance and Annie Cypert and Marvin and Vivian Cypert.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Pam Taylor and companion Jim McDuff of Ralls, and Dixie Welch and husband Ken of Baird, TX, 7 grandchildren, Shane Martin, Darcy Martin, Tara Taylor Pierce, Alexa Taylor Sargent and husband Adam, Amy Welch King and husband Josh, Kelly Welch and Katy Welch, 8 great grandchildren, Brooklyn Pierce, Ian Martin, Hannah King, Haylee King, Kaylee Coody, Avery Sargent, Kallie Martin and Axton Sargent.
