Obituary of Margarita Mendez

Rosary for Margarita R. Mendez, 83, of Lubbock, TX, will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, July 26, 2018, in St. Isidore Catholic Church, Abernathy, TX.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, July 27, 2018, in the same church with Rev. John Cherolikal officiating.  Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.

Mrs. Mendez died Sunday, July 22, 2018, in Dallas, TX.

She was born August 27, 1934 in Corpus Christi, TX to Dionicio and Anna Cleta (Rosas) Rosalez.  She married Agracino Mendez, September 19, 1953 in Cameron, TX.  He preceded her in death on April 2, 2004.  She was a Lubbock resident for the majority of her life and was a Catholic.  

She was preceded in death, by not only her husband, but 2 daughters, Juanita Garcia, who had been living in McKinney, TX, in 1990 and Dominga Lopez, who was of Mesquite, TX, in 2014.

She is survived by 3 sons, Agracino Mendez, Jr. of Slaton, TX, Jesus Mendez of Penitas, TX and Bobby Mendez of Lubbock, TX, 5 daughters, Maria Torres and Josephine Mendez both of Lubbock, Irene Mendez of Austin, TX, Frances Mendez and Rita Murillo both of Dallas, TX, 2 brothers, Pete Rosalez and Maurice Rosalez both of Vernon, TX, 2 sisters, Rachel Carter of Wisconsin and Julia Sherer of Vernon, TX, 36 grandchildren, 87 great grandchildren and 24 great great grandchildren.
