Obituary of Charlotte Pauline Middleton
Graveside services for Charlotte (Mrs. Arthur) Middleton, 98, of Shallowater, TX, will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 27, 2018, in Resthaven Cemetery, Lubbock. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday in the Shallowater First Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Koerner, pastor, officiating. The family will gather to receive friends from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, January 26th, at Abell Funeral Home in Abernathy. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
Charlotte Pauline (Polly) was born in Nashville, Ark, December 15, 1919 to Thomas and Laura (Reid) McClure. She passed away, Wednesday, January 24, 2018. She was a graduate of Frenship High School in 1937 and was a member of the high school pep squad. She attended and graduated from Arlene's School of Beauty Culture in Lubbock, in 1938. She married Arthur Edmer Middleton in Clovis, NM, February 8, 1940. They resided in Shallowater where they became members of the Shallowater First Baptist Church in 1947. There she was a Sunbeam Leader for several years. Mrs. Middleton was a 4-H leader and loved flowers, even the smallest wildflower.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 40 years, Arthur, December 13, 1980, her parents, 4 brothers, Ercil, Roy, Billy Tom and Jerry, a sister, Jo Barnett and a son-in-law, Duane Swofford.
She is survived by 5 daughters, Linda Phillips and husband Jerry A., Alice Attebury and husband Wade, Nancy Hand and husband Bob, Betty Swofford and Diana Driggers and husband Ron, a sister, Lucy Herron Brown, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter.
The family suggests memorials be sent to the First Baptist Church, 1008 8th Street, Shallowater, TX 79363 or to a favorite charity.
