Obituary of Virgil Kelley

Virgil Kelley was born July 26, 1930 to Orlando Quincy and Alpha (Shuey) Kelley in Lubbock County, TX.  He was raised in Abernathy, attended school and helped on the farm until enlisting in the United States Army, where he became a professional boxer.  He married Donnie Joanne, and they were married for over 65 years at the time of her death, July 13, 2015.  He worked on the Pacific Pipeline in Califormia, after retiring from the pipeline, he begam managing stores for Goodwill, totaling 7 stores.  He moved to Lubbock from Fresno, CA in 2015.

Mr. Kelley died at his home in Lubbock, October 23, 2017.

He is survived by 2 sisters, Jo Davis of Lubbock, TX and Venita Gordon of Abernathy.

Cremation is under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy.  There are no services planned at this time.
