Obituary of Vera Collier

Vera Alice (Roten) Collier was born March 10, 1936 to Daniel Lee and Altha Loutia (Wilson) Roten in Wichita, KS. She died Friday, August 7, 2015 at her home in Lubbock, TX. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 pm, Saturday, August 29th, 2015, at Highland Baptist Church, Lubbock. Cremation services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Collier married August L. Collier on December 6, 1958 in Wichita, Ks, and they moved their family to Lubbock on August 4, 1974 from Kansas. She worked at various home health agencies and hospitals while in Lubbock and Kansas. She attended the Christian Life Center on N. Municipal Drive in Lubbock. She loved to crochet and embroider. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, August L. Collier of Lubbock, 4 children, Anna Murphy and husband Dale of Hulbert, OK, Teresa Derler and husband Andy, Sandra Griggs and husband John and Scott Collier and wife Jessica all of Lubbock, 6 grandchildren,Josh and Shane Murphy, Chris, Shaun and Sherri Derler, and Paul Stern, 3 great grandchildren, Gunner Murphy, Willow & Ashley Kope, a brother, Loyd Leon Roten and wife Shirley of Wichita, KS and a sister Marion Joy and husband Carroll of Benton, KS. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, Lubbock Meals on Wheels or Cuidado Casero Hospice.
