Obituary of Cecil Carman

Cecil Glen ( C2 ) Carman was born November 30, 1932 to Leonard and Maudie (Boner) Carman, in Whiteflat, TX. He married Rose Mary Brown on July 10, 1975 in Lubbock, TX. They moved to Abernathy in 1983 from Lubbock, having lived in Abernathy at different times. He was an optician for 50 years, and owned and operated Plainview Optical & Lab from 1985 until 1998. Following his retirement they traveled the United States and Canada for 7 years. He was an avid Texas Tech Football and Abernathy Football fan. He loved to fish and give others a hard time, often using his dry wit and sense of humor. Mr. Carmen died Thursday, July 23, 2015, at his home in Abernathy, TX. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jack and Ray Carman. He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Carman of Abernathy, 3 children, Melody Libby of Lorena, TX, Steve and David Carman both of Louisana, 3 brothers, James Carman of Phoenix, AZ, Billy Carman of Slaton, TX and Larry Carman of Houston, TX, a sister, Nellie Carr of Marlow, OK and 2 granddaughters, Elise Libby and Lorelei Payne both of Lorena, TX. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, August 29th, 2015, in the City Of Lubbock Cemetery, where Mr. Carman will be laid to rest between his parents, Leonard and Maudie Carman. Cremation services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family suggests memorials be sent to the West Texas Plains Branch of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Red Oak Office Park 3611, Soncy Road, Amarillo, TX 79119, or to Hospice of Lubbock, P. O. Box 16800. Lubbock, TX 79408.
