Obituary of Connie Deckard

Services for Connie Deckard, 69, of Abernathy, TX, and formerly of Petersburg, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, March 12, 2015, in the Petersburg First Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Boydstun officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will gather at Abell Funeral Home to receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Mrs. Deckard died in Lubbock, Monday, March 9, 2015. She was born in Kerns, TX on August 5, 1945 to Alvis and Lenora (Vest) Hill. She was the second youngest of 9 children. She married Larry Deckard in Portales, NM, June 30, 1967. Connie was a nursery worker for over 30 years at the Petersburg First Baptist Church and was the present director of Little Footprints in Abernathy, TX. She was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda Sinacek and brothers, Alvis Hill, Jr. and William Hill. She is survived by her husband Larry Deckard of Abernathy, 2 daughters, Sheila Griffith and husband Paul and Amy Molinar and husband Felix all of Abernathy, 3 grandchildren, Ashtyn, Hunter and Ryelan. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Barbara Deckard and husband Charles of Blue Ridge, TX and Peggy Pretieri and husband Gene of Shelby, OH, 3 brothers, Bobby Hill and wife Pat of Odessa, TX, Randall Hill and Gerald Hill both of Portales, NM, numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
