Obituary of Daphna Gallaway

DAPHNA FAYE GALLAWAY Born November 14, 1926 Beloved daughter of Harvey Van and Cordelia Lewis Gallaway, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Dec 28th, 2014. Daphna came from Texas pioneer stock, and grew up in Gustine, Texas. She graduated valedictorian of the 1944 class of Gustine High School, and married Elby W. Kendrick. They had two sons, Gary and Jerry Kendrick. She moved to Hereford, Texas in 1956, and lived there until 1976. She was active in the Wesley Methodist Church and made many close friends. Following the graduation of her sons from high school, she lived in Lubbock, Texas where she was the manager of a Colonial Self Storage business for over twenty years. Although Daphna worked at different jobs throughout her life, she was first and foremost a dedicated home maker. She always made home a place of joy for her family, and was a guiding influence and supportive mother to her sons. At the age of 83, Daphna said a fond farewell to Texas and moved to Arizona to be closer to family. She is preceded in death by her parents, and survived by two sons, four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, Jan 2nd, at Abell Funeral Home in Abernathy, Texas.
