Services for Dorothy Wanda Beeson Mayhaw, 87, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, October 1, 2014, in the Abernathy Church of Christ with Randall Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
Mrs. Mayhaw died Sunday, September 28, 2014, in Amarillo, TX.
She was born June 16, 1927 in Lubbock, TX, to Redger and Annie Belle (Ellerd) Daugherty. She was raised on a farm in the Lakeview Community and moved to Abernathy in 1964. She was a graduate of Petersburg High School and attended Wayland Baptist University in Plainview. She married C. B. Beeson in New Mexico and he preceded her in death in 1982. She was a member of the Abernathy Riding Club and Abernathy Church of Christ where she was a Sunday School Teacher. On June 21, 1985, she married William "Bill" Mayhaw in Levelland, TX, and they made their home at Lake Stanford for 20 years, where she was a member of the Haskell Church of Christ. She loved cooking and her family considered her a pastry chef and gourmet cook. She loved spending time scrap-booking and fishing.
She was preceded in death by a son, William "Bill" Beeson, on June 15, 2002, and a granddaughter, Amanda Beeson on May 1, 2007.
She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Mayhaw of Lake Stanford, TX, a daughter, Redgie Knight and husband Johnny of Amarillo, TX, Daughter-in-law, Cindy Beeson of Snyder, TX, 4 step children, Tony Mayhaw of Lake Stanford, Sharon Williams of Levelland, TX, Carla Morales of Mesquite, TX and Billy Wayne Mayhaw of Plano, TX, a brother, Roy Lee Daughtery and wife Helen of Lubbock, TX, 5 grandchildren, Charles Jared Knight and wife Velvet, Jeremy Ray Knight and wife Stacy, Ethan Beeson, Nathaniel Beeson and April Urie and husband Jason. She is also survived by 5 step grandchildren, Cameron Mayhaw, Brent Williams, Kaylee Williams, Mitchell Mayhaw and Evan Mayhaw, 6 great grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild.
Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
