T.N. (Junior) Teeter arrived in heaven on Thursday, January 15, 2009!
Services to honor his memory and celebrate his life were held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 19, at the First Baptist Church in Abernathy, Texas (411 7th St.). Officiating was his son, Rev. Teddy Teeter, and his grandsons, Revs. Kerry Tilley, Barry Tilley and Coley Ambrose. Interment followed at the Abernathy Cemetery.
The family received friends on Sunday, January 18, from 3-5 PM at Abernathy's Abell Funeral Home (411 16th St.) under whose care the services were arranged.
Theodore Napolean Teeter, Jr. was born, July 6, 1926, to T. N. (Thed) Teeter, Sr. and Girthel McAllister Teeter on Crow Mountain near Russellville, Arkansas. On July 8, 1944 he married Frances Harris and to this marriage six children were born. After leaving the family farm on Crow Mountain, he worked in the oil fields at Natchez, MS for a short time before returning to Russellville where he worked at Arkansas Tech and later at the International Shoe Factory.
The family moved to the Lubbock area in September 1955, making Abernathy their home since 1956. Teeter worked in the agricultural industry and was employed with the Abernathy CO-OP Grain Elevator for 27 years, retiring in 1994.
The most cherished treasures he was grateful to claim were his family, his neighbors and his friends.
Family members awaiting him in heaven include his mother, Girthel; a daughter, Kathy Teeter Vannoy; a son-in-law, Albert Ambrose; a granddaughter, Heather Vannoy; two additional grand-babies and two additional great grand-babies; a brother, J.L. Teeter (and wife, Ima Jane); and a brother-in-law, Edward Horne.
His family, on this side of heaven, who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Frances; three daughters, Judy Tilley (and husband, Buddy), Joyce Teeter, and Teresa Ambrose, all of Abernathy; two sons, Danny Teeter (and wife Teresa) of Burkburnett, Texas, and Teddy Teeter (and wife Louise) of Olton, Texas.
His grandchildren: Kerry Tilley (and wife, Reva), Barry Tilley (and wife, Renee), Sheryll Wilson (and husband, Chuck), Shawn Tilley, Mathias Vannoy (and wife, Jamie), Shane Teeter (and wife, Sherry), Kendall Kirkland (and husband, Eric), Kathy Teeter, Kenny Teeter, Coley Ambrose (and wife Rachel), Michael Teeter, Mark Teeter (and wife, Mary), Matthew Teeter (and wife, Thelia), and Michelle Teeter.
His great-grandchildren: Meagan Tilley, Morgan Tilley, Kaitlyn Wilson, Kembrah Wilson, Kamden Wilson, Karyss Wilson, Parker Holaday, Carson Vannoy, Logan Vannoy, Lauren Teeter, Ariel Kirkland, Jaymeson Gibbs, Bella Ambrose, Anthony Teeter, Cassie Teeter, Melanie Teeter, Kaylea Teeter, Tyler Teeter, Daisy Teeter, Lisa Teeter, and Audrey Casares. The "Teeter Legacy" continues with the births of three more great-grandchildren only months away.
Also, of notable tribute, Teeter is survived by his 107 year old father of Russellville, Arkansas as well as two sisters, Virginia Ruth Horne of Sibley, Missouri and Jane Evelyn McAnulty (and husband Bill) of Russellville, Arkansas.
Besides his family, his memory is honored by a host of friends and neighbors whose friendships have been and continue to be deeply cherished and appreciated.
