Graveside services for Ralph Ferguson, 77, of Petersburg, TX, will be held at 5:00 pm Sunday, July 21, 2013, in the Floyd County Memorial Park, Floydada, TX, with Rev. Bobby Ferguson officiating. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Ferguson died at his home in Petersburg, Tuesday July 16, 2013. He was born October 25, 1935 in Abernathy, TX and was raised in Floydada and served in the US Army. He graduated from Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in Dallas, TX in 1967. He began his career at Wood-Dunning Funeral Home in Plainvew, TX and continued at George Kinney in Stamford, TX, McCoy Funeral Homes in Roscoe, Hamby and Wellington, TX, Resthaven in Lubbock, TX, and Wallace Funeral Home in Tulia, TX. He owned and operated Lamb-Ferguson Funeral Home in McLean, TX until his retirement in 1999, when he moved to Kress, TX. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club and Texas Funeral Directors Association. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Ferguson in 1963 and a brother, L. C. "Buck" Ferguson in 2010. He is survived by his wife, Jerry Ferguson of Petersburg, TX, 2 sons, Kelly Ferguson and wife Angie of Borger, TX and Delwin "Poncho" Ferguson and wife Jodi of Deridder, LA, 2 daughters, Marcia Ferguson of Petersburg and her daughter, Lacy J Ferguson of Norfolk, VA and Skylar Ferguson of Petersburg, TX, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, a brother, Charlie Ferguson of Floydada, TX, 2 sisters, Ruby Bunch of Floydada and Louise Summer of Plainview, TX. The family prefers memorials be sent to the American Cancer Association, 3513 10th Street, Lubbock, TX 79415, or to a favorite charity.
