Obituary of Doris Hill

Rosary will be recited for Doris Hill, 92, of Abernathy, TX, at 7:45 pm Friday, March 8, 2013, in St. Isidore Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, March 9, 2013, in the same church. The family will receive friends at Abell Funeral Home from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm Friday, March 8th. Doris Hill was born July 7, 1920 in Mitchell County, Texas to Julian and Lottie (Feaster) Hammond. After her high school graduation she attended Hardin Simmons University. She married Ted Hill on November 18, 1945 in Tampa, FL. She was employed by Abernathy ISD , where she worked in the cafeteria for 16 years retiring in 1988. She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society and was a catechist. She and Ted were members of the Merry Go Round Dance Club in Lubbock for 58 years. They built their cabin in Ruidoso, NM, with the help of their sons, Tom, Tim and John over the course of numerous weekends. Doris was an amazing cook, enjoyed sewing and her plants and flowers and loved her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Romaine Hammond and a sister, Madrine Glenn. Doris is survived by her husband, Ted of Abernathy, 3 sons, Tom and his wife Nancy of Andover, MN, Tim and his wife Kathy and John and his wife Lyntha, all of Abernathy, 6 grandchildren, Nicholas, Amanda, Spencer, Meghan, Wesley and Jase, 3 great grandchildren, , Bailey, Kaidance and Keller, 2 sisters, Marjorie Dykstra ans Mary Ellen Kennedy and a brother, Ed Warren Hammond. The Hill family suggests memorials be sent to a favorite charity.
