Obituary of Edna Skipper

Services for Edna Skipper, 83, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 17, 2013, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike O'Donnell and Rev. Harold Abney officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will receive friends at Abell Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm, Wednesday. Mrs. Skipper died Monday, January 14, 2013, in Lubbock, TX. She was born October 3, 1929 to C.J. and Martha (Abney) Camp outside Abernathy. She graduated from Abernathy High School in 1946 and married Billy F. Skipper on September 1, 1946 in Des Moines, NM. She was a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School ages 4th Grade to age 100 year olds, she sang in the Church and Community Choir and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union (WMU). She always attended any sporting events the grandkids were involved with and kept the official stats for many of them. She was the "official brownie baker" for funerals and was like a 2nd mom to many of the younger church staff over the years. She is survived by her husband Billy F. Skipper of Abernathy, TX, 4 children, Mike Skipper and wife Jan of Willmington, DE, Steve Skipper and wife Angelia of Lubbock, TX, Yvette Knight and husband Travis of Anton, TX and Mark Skipper and wife Karen of Hutto, TX, 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. The family suggests that memorials be sent to the First Baptist Church or to a favorite charity.
