Rosary for William "Willie" Lucero, SR., 85, of Hale Center, TX, will be recited at 6:00 pm Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church with Rev. John Smith, pastor, officiating. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 19, 2012, in the same church. Burial will follow in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX. Mr. Lucero was born February 22, 1927 in Fergusson, TX to Pascual and Antonia (Quintana) Lucero. He married Doris Stone on December 8, 1952 in Clovis, NM. She preceded him in death on November 3, 2008. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and working on "old cars". He served in the United States Military during WWII, and was a lifetime member of the VFW and was a member of the American Legion and St. Theresa's Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, sister, parents and his wife. He is survived by a son, William "Bill" Lucero and wife Sabrina of Hale Center, 6 daughters, Yvonne Lucero of Hale Center, Sylvia Payne and husband John, Esther Perkins and husband Rodney and Christine Stevens and husband Michael all of Amarillo, TX, Patsy Botello and Sandra Martin and husband Tony all of Lubbock, TX, 2 brothers, Joe Lucero of Lubbock and Max Lucero and wife Dianne of Tuscon, AZ, 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and an aunt Stella Quintana of Lamesa, TX. The family suggests memorials be sent to the VFW or the American Legion.
