Memorial services for Patricia A. Benson Whittenburg, 57, were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 25, 2009, in the Hale Center First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmy Cameron and Rev. Robert Malcolm officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX. Patti died Thursday, August 20, 2009, in Lubbock, TX She was born May 6, 1952 in Euclid, Ohio and married Clyde L. Benson on May 5, 1979 in Akron, Ohio and he preceded her in death January 4, 2006. She moved to Texas in 1999 and then to Hale Center in 2005. She was the director of nurses at Texan Nursing Rehab in Plainview, TX and had been employed at Legend of the Plains Nursing Home in Hale Center, TX, Running Water Draw Nursing Home in Olton, TX, Allegiance and University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married William Thomas Whittenburg on September 1, 2007 at Morphy Lake, New Mexico. She is survived by her husband, Tommy of Hale Center, TX, her father, Michael Skrjanc of Hale Center, TX, a brother, Michael Skrjanc and wife Lori of Canton, Ohio, a sister, Terry Lynn Carkhuff and husband Howard of Middle Burg, FL, 2 stepdaughters: Nicole Franklin and husband Richard of Hale Center, TX and Danielle Whittenburg of Slaton, TX , 1 granddaughter, Ryanna Franklin, 3 nephews, 2 nieces and 2 great nephews. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to American Cancer Society or Vista Care Hospice. Abell Funeral Home
