INA DEE FIELDS
HALE CENTER, TX
Graveside services for Ina Dee Fields, 97, of Hale Center, TX, were held at 1:00 pm Thursday, May 3, 2012, in the Hale Center Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Cameron officiating. The family received friends at Abell Funeral Home on Thursday morning from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX.
Mrs. Fields passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2012, surrounded by family. She had resided in Fort Worth for the past 6 years but her home was Hale Center from 1952 until 2006. Ina was born February 4, 1915 to Elmer and Stella Pederson of Cranfills Gap, TX. On January 6, 1932, she married Ovie Fields and together they had two children, Floyd LaVon Fields and Reba Belle Fields and enjoyed seventy years of married life. Ovie, with Ina as his helpmate, farmed in the Bosque County area some sixteen years until they moved to the South Plains to farm near Petersburg, TX, then on to Hale Center where he left farming to become a mechanic which led to him becoming owner and operator of Fields Garage locally. Ina, the constant and loving companion, helped by keeping books, answering the phone, going to Plainview for parts, provided delicious hot meals and welcome coffee breaks. Her prize culinary creations were fabulous hot rolls and unforgettable cherry as well as apricot cobblers. Additionally, during Ina's years in Hale Center she worked some twenty five years in the school cafeteria and was a member of the Hale County Home Demonstration Club. Her life was totally devoted to her family, her faith and her love of the local Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Floyd LaVon and her husband Ovie.
She is survived by her daughter, Reba McMinn and husband James of Ft. Worth, TX, 2 grandsons, Stephen Fields and wife Angie of Plymouth, CA and Shaen McKnight and wife Paulette of Ft. Worth, TX and a granddaughter, Devon McCain and husband Jeff and 2 great grandchildren, Carson and Graham McCain all of Decatur, TX.
